Deepak Massand
Deepak founded Litéra® in early 2001 and has led the company to its current
status as the global leader in content lifecycle management (CLM) with solutions
for secure document creation, collaboration, comparison, control and cleansing.
Litéra® solutions enable law firms and corporate clients to enhance document-related
business processes for an immediate return on investment, and match this value with
world-class customer support.
Prior to starting Litéra®,Massand had 25 years of executive level management
experience including serving as the President and CEO of Merz Pharmaceuticals and
at Johnson and Johnson where he held senior management positions, including Executive
Director. He earned Advanced Management credentials from the Kellogg School of Management,
as well as the Darden School of Management (UVA).
Massand holds patents for the most successful OTC scar amelioration product (Mederma),
document collaboration (Patent 7,818,678) and compound document comparison (Patent
7,818,660), and for metadata cleaning on a remote server (Patent 7,895,276).
Karen Kenefick-Massand, President
Karen Kenefick-Massand
Karen is a co-founder of Litéra® and responsible for commercialization
and development strategy. Karen has dedicated more than 18 years to healthcare and
informatics. She was previously a founding executive of Skila, and held every commercial
and operational executive position, ending as the EVP of Global Operations, managing
the client service, strategic advisory and technical teams responsible for all client
deliverables.
Additionally, Karen is a board member of Dr. Score and Axxiem Solutions, WeC2 and
Taylor Presentations.
Karen’s previous experience includes managing all commercial operations for
Salem Health Solutions, a healthcare analytics company. She also held various sales,
and management roles at Johnson & Johnson's Ortho McNeil division and Dendrite.
Prior to her career in healthcare, Karen was a television news reporter and anchor
for CBS and NBC news.
She holds BA in Communications from the University of Washington, with post-graduate
studies at Wharton and Harvard.
Toby Bell, Executive Vice President
Toby Bell
Toby serves on the executive committee at Litéra® with responsibilities
for strategic planning, marketing, alliances, and business development. Prior to
Litéra®, he was research VP for Gartner, the leading provider of global
research and analysis on the information technology industry. Toby was responsible
for covering a range of analytics, business process, and content management technologies
as well as vendors and trends in those marketplaces. He served hundreds of clients
primarily in the Financial Services, Government, Healthcare, Legal, and Manufacturing
vertical markets.
Prior to joining Gartner, Toby was a senior manager and director for a leading global
professional services firm focused on technology consulting and legal practice management.
He was responsible for identifying business problems and related emerging technology
solutions that resulted in the highest immediate cost recovery for clients; coordinating
and communicating global research and testing efforts related to advanced and emerging
technologies; and setting direction for the firm's technology architecture.
Toby has held key management positions in large and small business advisory services
organizations -- including Andersen and Ernst & Young -- focused primarily on business
intelligence, competitive intelligence, marketing technology and process improvement
consulting.
Norm Thomas, Vice President of Business Development
Norm Thomas
Norm Thomas is the Vice President of Business Development for Litéra®, the leader
in content lifecycle management with best of breed products to create, collaborate,
compare, clean and convert business documents across an organization’s entire content
lifecycle.
As a recognized industry leader in technology for professional services firms, Thomas
spent 8 years with Microsoft as Director of Industry Market Development for the
Legal and Professional Services solutions business, focusing on customer engagement
and channel-building in the services sector globally. Before joining Microsoft,
Thomas was a Client Partner for Cambridge Technology Partners in enterprise-scale
project management and client development, and before that was President of Softec
Solutions, Inc., a systems integrator for small- and medium-sized manufacturing
companies.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from USC and an MBA in Finance from
the University of Washington and is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of
Washington.
Stuart C. Gauffreau, General Counsel and Director of Business Affairs
Stuart C. Gauffreau
Stu is responsible for all legal matters at Litéra® and also has a management
role with the company’s back-office business functions. A lawyer since 1996,
Stu was a partner at two prominent North Carolina law firms before joining Litéra®
and has a wide range of experience in commercial litigation, contract drafting and
negotiation, dispute resolution, and advising businesses and business owners.
Prior to attending law school, Stu was a military intelligence officer on active
duty in the United States Army, which included combat service in Iraq and Kuwait
during Operation Desert Storm. Stu currently serves in the Army Reserve as a lieutenant
colonel in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps.
Stu holds a B.A. in Political Science from Duke University and a law degree from
the University of North Carolina School of Law.
Deneen Martinez, Executive Director of R&D
Deneen Martinez
Deneen is responsible for the research and development efforts for Litera's complete
suite of products. As a thought leader in technology with over 25 years of IT experience,
Deneen has built a reputation for crafting the strategic vision to achieve business
goals. She offers a unique blend of executive acumen, global team-building, operational
improvement, and product development. Deneen brings a wealth of knowledge around
document lifecycle management, collaboration, and workflow processes.
Prior to joining Litera, Deneen served as the Senior Director of Global Field Engineering
at Workshare. She has also worked at large law firms such as Thelen Reid Brown Raysman
& Steiner LLP and Shearman & Sterling LLP.
Deneen is a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, Database Administrator, Cisco
Certified Network Associate, and a Microsoft Certified Trainer.
Cathy Brode, Director of Corporate Markets
Cathy Brode
Cathy serves as the Director of Product Marketing and has over 14 years of expertise
in server based document and content processing, especially around metadata removal.
She was formally the founder and Managing Director of 3BView, an award winning international
software business specializing in document security solutions.
Cathy co-founded 3BView in 2005 and has more than 25 years of experience in the
IT and life sciences industry, including roles in quality, engineering, product
management, marketing and business strategy.
Cathy was also a founding member of CDC Solutions, a company which was acquired
by Liquent Inc in 2003, a provider of software and services for the life sciences
industry. She was previously employed at Kinesis Systems Ltd (now part of IBM),
a technology services company, as a consultant. Her career started as a systems
engineer in the security network systems and telecommunications department at Plessey
Research, where she managed European research on advanced network management.
Cathy holds a BSc Hons degree in Computer Systems from University College Cardiff.
Michael Pennington, Director of Sales - Americas
Michael Pennington
Michael is responsible for leading the sales efforts for North and South America
at Litéra®. He brings over 15 years of progressive sales and leadership
experience with companies such as Workshare, Sage Software, and Giga Information
Group (now Forrester Research). Michael is adept in document lifecycle and document
collaboration solutions focused on the legal industry. He has forged many strong
relationships with many of the top law firms in the US and has become a trusted
advisor in the legal IT space.
Prior to entering the IT industry, Michael’s previous experience includes
managing the business operations for Dallas Metrocare Services, a non-profit organization
dedicated to helping those with mental illness. Michael earned a Bachelor of Arts
in Marketing and a Minor in Psychology from Baylor University. He also possesses
the following technical certifications: Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (Microsoft),
Certified Software Manager (SIIA), Network+, and A+.
Raina Massand, Director of Business Development
Raina Massand
Raina Massand is a co-founder of Litéra® and currently serves on the
board of the company. As Director of Business Development, Raina’s responsibilities
include sales, marketing and strategy for all of our product lines in the corporate
market segment. Raina comes to Litéra®
as a proven sales leader and people manager with strong communication and sales
strategy skills.
Raina’s breadth of experience includes a variety of roles in sales management,
leadership, training and management development with companies including Pfizer
and Novartis. At her previous organization, Raina was the recipient of several national
and global sales and leadership awards. Most recently, she was chosen as one of
twenty five emerging leaders chosen to complete a corporate sponsored leadership
development program. She further distinguished herself by achieving a Master’s
certificate in Leadership Capability through this opportunity.
Raina has a B.A. in Psychology from New York University (N.Y.U.) and a M.A. in Communication
from the University of North Carolina.
Paul Hoffbrand, EMEA Manager
Paul Hoffbrand
Paul serves as the EMEA Manager for Litéra®, paying particular attention
to the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe. He is an industry veteran who has had many
successful years with resellers in his career.
Since 1992, he has solely worked with law firms and holds tremendous experience
in all aspects of IT including end user applications, document management systems,
infrastructure systems, practice management systems and Microsoft licensing.
Chandra L. Holcomb, Director of Client Satisfaction
Chandra L. Holcomb
Chandra is responsible for client satisfaction and ensuring all Litéra®
client interactions are positive including the Litéra Help Desk, new product implementation,
training and problem resolution. She continues to strengthen and build upon Litéra®’s
commitment to remarkable client satisfaction.
Chandra joined Litéra® from Targacept, Inc. where she implemented technology
solutions for varied document management challenges within an FDA regulated industry,
including financial and legal applications. She also has a unique customer perspective
that comes from a successful career at Womble Carlyle where she developed knowledge
of legal software and workflow based upon help desk, training and project implementation
experience.
Chandra earned a Bachelor of Science in Communications and a Minor in Public Relations
from Appalachian State University.
W. David Winslow, Director of Technical Infrastructure
W. David Winslow
David is responsible for all production, internal and development systems for Litéra®
and serves as the Director of Technical Infrastructure.
Prior to joining Litéra, David managed the network consulting practice of A&V Company.
He is well known as the co-founder of one of the first fifty Microsoft Authorized
Web Hosting providers in the world.
David is a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer + Internet, and a Red Hat Certified
Engineer.
