Metadact™, a joint product of SoftWise® Corporation and Litéra Corp., combines the best of Out-of-Sight® and Metadata Sweeper® to bring you a metadata management utility that reduces the risk of unintentional disclosure of confidential information embedded in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and PDF documents electronically exchanged with outside parties. This user-friendly utility provides a mechanism to analyze and clean documents before they are sent out. It integrates with multiple e-mail systems so users are prompted to remove metadata from documents attached to e-mails prior to sending. Document management system integrations allows you to take profiled documents clean them and automatically save and profile it back into the DMS system. Batch file processing allows users to clean multiple documents, a directory or an entire directory tree in a single operation. The Administrative module enables central management of the product and establishment of enterprise standards, using a simple GUI. What is Metadact? Metadact is an upgrade from the original Out-of-Sight metadata management product. It was merged with Metadata Sweeper, a product from Litéra Corp., and has been renamed to Metadact. It is a user-friendly utility which enables safe and effective management of metadata in all Microsoft Office and PDF documents. How does it work? Metadact provides a mechanism to analyze and clean documents before they are sent out. It works with all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel & PowerPoint) as well as PDF files. It is delivered as a fully functional engine and provides a user-friendly single dialog. The administrative module enables central management of the product and establishment of enterprise standards, using a simple GUI. What else should you know? Metadact integrates with multiple e-mail systems, so users are automatically prompted to remove metadata from documents attached to e-mails — prior to sending. Metadact also integrates with several DMS systems allowing you to automatically save and profile the new cleaned document back into the DMS system. Batch File Processing: Batch file processing allows users to clean multiple documents, a directory, or an entire directory tree — in a single operation. Administrators can create and save pre-set cleaning profiles for individuals, departments or organizations so that the cleaning parameters are predefined according to the user. Metadact also provides other security benefits to your PDF documents, by allowing you to password protect your document (128bit encryption); and maintain control over the ability of others to print the document. |
