Litera Brings Deeper AI to the Business of Law with New Lito Capabilities

Thu 29 Oct 2026

Your firm’s experience is more than the documents you’ve drafted and matters you’ve worked. It’s the relationships you’ve earned through hard work, the deals you’ve carefully priced and scoped to stay competitive, and the financial data that keeps your firm operating smoothly.

Law firms rely on their own data to create compelling pitches, more accurate budget calculations, and maintain profitability. That’s why we’re bringing even deeper AI to our business of law solutions. Lito, Litera’s award-winning Legal AI agent, now brings together relationship, pricing, scoping, and finance data from Foundation 365, Foundation Finance, and Foundation Scoping. That means firm leaders and lawyers get faster answers to the questions that help them run their business and grow their firm. Ask a question in natural language and get answers from the solutions you use, wherever your team works. Have multiple solutions? Lito pulls from multiple data sources with a single query. Your team gets answers in one step, right where they already work, with no new tabs or logins.

This release is the latest step toward Litera’s vision: one AI agent that unifies the practice and business of law.

What Does This Look Like in Practice?

Thanks to these added functionalities, legal teams can now:

  1. Know Every Client Better: Get a complete view of a client before any meeting, including recent touchpoints, upcoming activities, and associated matters, powered by Litera Foundation 365
  2. Protect Margins on Every Matter: Spot budget risk earlier and plan the next pitch or proposal with profitability in view, powered by Foundation Scoping
  3. Get Answers About Profitability and WIP: Ask directly about historic financial data and keep profitability top of mind, powered by Foundation Finance

Users can ask “Give me a summary of my client, JP Morgan”, “Which of my budgets are over 80%?”, or “Are we making money on this client?” For firms with more than one of these products, a single question can pull from all of them for a complete view of client relationships, budgets, and profitability.

Why Can Firms Trust Answers from Lito?

Lito is built for trust and growth. Lito combines 30 years of deterministic engines with leading large language models (LLMs), so output is accurate and verifiable, and lawyers can spend less time checking it. Unlike general-purpose AI tools, Lito derives its answers from the firm’s own client, matter, and financial data. Answers follow the same access and permissions the firm already set up in its source products.

How Does This Deliver Return on AI?

As AI continues to get adopted across the legal industry, law firms are asking hard questions about return on investment. Most are measuring only one part of the answer: efficiency. But true return on AI is not just time saved. It’s deeper client relationships and new business growth.

At Litera, we see three kinds of return.

  1. Efficiency: Answers arrive in seconds instead of days, and don't require rework due to error.
  2. Relationships: Partners walk into client meetings already knowing the recent history.
  3. Growth: Pricing and staffing decisions protect profitability, and the time AI saves goes into expanded matters and new clients.

Lito turns insights from across the practice and business of law into compounding intelligence, so firms can invest the time AI saves into new and growing client opportunities.

Where Does Lito Work?

Lito works where lawyers already do: in Word, Outlook, on the web, and on mobile and desktop, so answers are readily available whether you’re at your desk or on the go. This release builds on Firm AI Search functionality already available in Lito and ChatGPT, powered by Foundation, Litera’s leading experience management platform.
